Sergio Corbucci's 'Django' is quite simply one of the two most influential spaghetti westerns ever made. The other one is of course "A Fistful of Dollars', Maestro Sergio Leone's remake of Sensei Kurosawa's 'Yojimbo.' Leone's 'Dollars' trilogy, or the 'Man With No Name' series made Clint Eastwood's Name a household name. On the other hand, 'Django' made the handsome Franco Nero, known as a dramatic stage-trained young thespian up till then in Europe, an instant Western hero with an accent and one of the very few actors working in the genre who'd be compared with Eastwood himself. While Django' premise shares a similarity to the Leone/Kurosawa films (a lone stranger wandering into a town divided by two shady factions), Corbucci's photographic and story-telling styles and Nero's title character (dragging a machinegun-equipped-coffin) give the film a unique look and worthwhile variation, and the music and the theme song by Bacalov are quite different from Ennio Morricone's (but nearly as good!) Bonus trailer(s) + booklet.

棺桶に仕込んだ機関銃で無法グループに反撃する一匹狼。フランコ・ネロ主演の本格的マカロニウエスタン「DJANGO」がDVDで登場! 日本語タイトルは、なぜか「続・荒野の用心棒」だが、原題はネロのタイトル・キャラ「Django(ジャンゴー)」であり、何の続編でもない。マカロニウエスタンの2大巨匠の一人セルジオ・コルブッチ監督による本作は、セルジオ・レオーネの「A Fistful of Dollars(荒野の用心棒)」とともに最も影響力の強いジャンル映画であり、舞台教育を受け、ヨーロッパにおいて有望な若手俳優として知られていたがアクションは本作が始めてだったフランコ・ネロの名を、レオーネの「Dollars」三部作(「名無し男」のトリロジーとも呼ばれる)でスターとなったクリント・イーストウッドと比較される数少ないマカロニ西部劇俳優として決定付けた。黒澤明の「用心棒」をリメークしたレオーネの作品同様、本作も「2つの無法グループが対立する町にやってきた流れ者ガンマン」の設定だが、作品をユニークにするのは、レオーネとはひと味違うコルブッチのビジュアル・スタイルとモリコーネとはふた味違うバカロフの音楽&主題歌、そして、機関銃を装備した棺桶を引きずるクール且つ人間味溢れ
