Concluding volume. Action anime set in the Edo period, or the Tokugawa period named after the Shogunate that ruled over Japan from the 1600's to mid-1800's. The Hiruko Nin (Ninja) are after Shigure, the Priestess of Light, for she alone possesses the power - when combined with that of the Dragon's Jewel - to deliver them from the eternal darkness to which they're condemned. The Kimon Shu Ninja are also after the same powers. Enter Kibagami Jubei, a lone Nin for hire, who gets tangled up in the battle between the two Nin clans. While he has no interest in the battle's outcome, he ends up saving the Priestess's life. With his ability "Shippu no iai," he can create powerful kamaitachi (whirlwind cuts, named after the Japanese monster that looks like a weasel which moves extremely fast) to overcome his enemies. With Dakuan, an aged Ninja-monk, and the boy Ninja Tsubute, he embarks on a journey to protect Shigure, the Priestess who holds the key to many things.
