Shige, a man living in the present day, travels back in time to the turbulent final days of the Tokugawa shogunate. He finds himself in the midst of two opposing forces: the Shin-Sen-Gumi, the Kyoto Protectorate, and the Samoan Expoitionary Faction. Shige is confronted by men from the end of the Edo period who are concerned about the country and put their lives on the line for it, and he finds himself at the mercy of these men and their conflicts. What is Shige's answer to the historical "Ikedaya Incident"?
