Description

Ryunosuke Kamiki and Mugi Kadowaki star in the film "The Sun (Taiyo)" directed by Yu Irie. The film is based on the theatrical play of the same name performed by Gekidan Ikiume. Set in the early 21st century where the population is decimated by a virus. By this virus, human beings were divided into two kinds or dead. One of them is Nokusu who were infected with the virus. They became sensitive to solar light and are active during the night. The other is Kyurio. They survived but were never affected by the virus. Now Nokusu discriminates against the Kyurio as archaic humans. The story centers on two Kyurio, one wishes to be Nokusu, and the other hates Nokusu and tries to improve livelihood of her village. But one day an incident occurs and it changes their lives dramatically.

太陽に愛された者と、太陽を捨てた者。それぞれの未来に、何が見えるのか―― 二つに分断されてしまった人類の未来を描く、究極のヒューマンドラマ。劇団イキウメの傑作戯曲を「SR サイタマノラッパー」「ジョーカー・ゲーム」の入江悠監督が待望の映画化。主演は若手俳優のなかでも群を抜いた人気と演技力を持つ神木隆之介と門脇麦。――21世紀初頭。世界中に拡散したウイルスにより人類の大半が死滅、生き残った人類は、太陽の光に弱く夜にしか生きられない新人類・ノクスと、ノクスに管理されながら太陽の下で貧しく暮らすキュリオ(骨董品)と呼ばれる旧人類に分けられてしまった。キュリオからノクスへ転換は可能だが、ノクスへの転換は医学的に若年層に限られていた。ある日、寒村でノクス駐在員がキュリオに惨殺される事件が起こる。その結果、村はノクスによる経済封鎖を受けてより一層貧しくなっていった。10年後、キュリオとして生きる青年・奥寺鉄彦(神木隆之介)は、村での生活に憤りを感じながら鬱屈とした日々を送っていた。幼なじみの生田結(門脇麦)は、自分を捨ててノクスへと転換した母親とノクスそのものを憎みながらも村の生活を少しでも良くしようと暮らしていた。そして、ノクスに憧れる鉄彦とノクスを憎む結の運命を大きく変える出来事が起きる。
