三宅裕司が5ヶ月間の芸能活動休止から復活し、1年振りに舞台に立つ! 歌・アクション・恋愛・笑い、全てが詰まった落語サスペンスコメディ!! ――今日は日本芸術大賞を決定する為の落語名人会。ノミネートされている落語芸能協会の桂飯丸(三宅裕司)と落語古典協会の三遊亭円高(ラサール石井)の一騎打ち。楽屋では飯丸の弟子・桂五穀米(小倉久寛)、円高の弟子・三遊亭円安(東貴博)がそれぞれの師匠の世話をしている。前座の高座が終わると、出囃子にのって円高が高座にあがる。調子良く喋り始めるが、お茶を飲んでしばらくすると突然声が裏返って高い声になってしまう。もう一口お茶を飲むがさらに声が高くなり喉をおさえて苦しそうに倒れてしまう。会場は騒然となる。円安が「絶対に事件性がある」と警察に捜査を依頼し、落語に疎い刑事・鬼塚敬二(春風亭昇太)が部下と共に捜査を開始する。
