フレッド・カヴァイエ監督は前作と同じ"愛のための疾走"というテーマをより深く追求しつつ、84分というさらに凝縮されたサスペンスアクションは既に前作を越える評判。監督の前作「すべて彼女のために」はポール・ハギス監督の手によって、主演ラッセル・クロウ、ハリウッドリメイク版「スリーデイズ」として生まれ変わった。本作品「この愛のために撃て」もすでにハリウッド各社からリメイク権の申し込みが殺到。全編スリルと躍動感に溢れる音楽は「パイレーツ・オブ・カリビアン/呪われた海賊たち」のクラウス・バデルトが担当。――パリ市内病院勤務の看護助手サミュエル。突然家に押し入ってきた謎の男たちに暴行され、気を失ってしまう。目が覚めたときには妻が誘拐され、脅迫の電話がかかってくる。「今から3時間以内にある患者を連れてこい、さもないと妻を殺す」サミュエルはターゲットの患者が、重要事件参考人として警察からもマークされているとは知らず、連れ出そうとする。警察からも追われ、ギャングからも狙われるサミュエルだがひたすら妻の命を救うためひた走り続ける・・・。
