「心配ご無用!」持ち前の夢と情熱で戦国の世に立ち向かい、名もなき農民の子から天下人へと駆け上がった秀吉の出世物語。放送から16年、幻の傑作大河ドラマ、遂に待望のDVD化! 総集編。――天文22年(1553年)夏、主人の金を盗まれてさすらう身となった日吉(竹中直人)は、木曽川流域に勢力を張る豪族の頭領、蜂須賀小六(大仁田厚)に気に入られ、織田信長(渡哲也)のもとに連れてこられる。うつけ(愚か者)の異名などは露ほどもうかがわせず、威風堂々たる信長の武将ぶりに感服する日吉。「猿!」とからかわれながらも、信長の深く大きな度量に触れる機会を増やし、弘治3年(1557年)冬、小者頭(こものがしら)に取り立てられる。そのころ、信長は尾張統一を果たしたのち、今川勢との一戦を覚悟していた。永禄3年(1560年)5月、今川義元は3万の大群を率い、京に向けて出陣した。信長は、わずか三千の兵力で休息中の今川軍本陣に雨中の突撃戦を敢行し、奇跡的な勝利を収める。全4部を収録。
