Lineage

[Machine Translation] SHIGETO is the solo project of Zach Saginaw, a Detroit-based track maker and drummer who is undoubtedly one of the hottest beat makers in the world today. Following his debut release "Full Circle" in 2010, his 2012 digital and limited vinyl release "Lineage" is now available on CD only in Japan! He has been playing drums since his childhood, studied jazz at school, and absorbed electronic music. This album, which features a photo of his grandfather on the cover, is his musical journey, absorbing and sublimating his own musical influences, including ambient, hip-hop, jazz, and folk. The production and sense of style is like that of Detroit legend J Dilla, and the beat sense that resonates with LA beats from the likes of Flying Lotus and Teebs is superb itself. The drums are the mainstay of the music, with a variety of lyrical percussion such as kalimba and tetsuzin pouring down like stardust, and retro keyboards and electronics drifting and layered in the low, psychedelic shimmer. The unique dreamy, floating sound is unique, with a groove that has passed through jazz and hip-hop, and is colored by a sense of post-electronica editing. This first CD release will include additional unreleased tracks and remixes.

今最も注目されているビート・メイカーの1人であることは間違いない、デトロイト在住のトラック・メイカー / ドラマー、Zach Saginawによるソロ・プロジェクト、SHIGETO。彼が2010年のデビュー作『Full Circle』に続き、2012年にデジタルと限定ヴァイナルのみでリリースしていた作品『Lineage』を日本限定でCD化! 幼少期からドラムをプレイし、学生時代はジャズを学び、そしてエレクトロニック・ミュージックを吸収した彼。自身の祖父の写真をジャケットに使用した本作は、アンビエント、ヒップホップ、ジャズ、フォークなど自らが影響を受けて来た音楽体験を吸収・昇華した自身の音楽ジャーニー。デトロイトの伝説J Dillaを継承するかのごときプロダクションとセンス、Flying LotusやTeebsらLAビーツに共振するビート・センスは秀逸そのもの。 ドラムを主軸にカリンバ、鉄琴など多彩でリリカルなパーカッションが星屑のように降り注ぎ、低音とサイケデリックな揺らぎの中にレトロなキーボードやエレクトロニクスが漂いレイヤードされていく。ジャズやヒップホップを通過したグルーヴ感覚とエレクトロニカ以降のエディット感覚に彩られた、独特のドリーミーで浮遊感に満ちたサウンドは唯一無二。 今回初のCD化にあたり、未発表曲、リミックスを追加収録予定。
