This anime is well worth watching; great animation quality combined with a good sense of humor. It should be noted that this DVD has an original type of menu featuring a simulated visual novel scene with Nagi and Jin interacting through dialog boxes. Very nice! I truly recommend this series!

Description
First DVD release from anim eseries "Kannagi." When art student Jin Mikuriya completes his wooden ghost statue for the upcoming town competition, he finds that the statue comes to life as a girl proclaiming herself to be a god! When she then explains to Jin about the Kegare that come to attack her, Jin has no choice but to help. The Kegare are unstoppable, and the girl has no powers against them . . . but when Jin meets one for the first time he discovers he can easily take them out.

Comic REXで絶賛連載中の「かんなぎ」が待望のアニメ化、第1巻!! 自称神様・ナギと、高校生・仁と、その他色々な人が繰り広げる、お茶の間感覚伝奇ストーリー! ――地区展に出品する木彫りの精霊像を作り終えた美術部員の御厨仁(みくりやじん)。すると、その精霊像が突然顕現し、女の子になって動き・喋り出した! 「わらわこそ、この大地の母なる産土神(うぶすながみ)じゃ」――彼の予想の右斜め上の答えを告げる。随分と気軽に現れた神様に戸惑いつつ、彼女の依代となった神木の事情を説明する仁。そして、彼女を襲うケガレと呼ばれるその土地の不浄物。人には触れられぬケガレに成す術のない残念な自称神様だったが、仁は割と簡単にそのケガレを掴み、何事も無かったかのようにポイっとしてしまう・・・「なんでじゃーーーーーーーー!!」そう言いながら綺麗な弧を描き、彼のみぞおちにかまされたローリングソバット。落ち込む神様、戸惑う仁。そして、落ち込む神様に訪れたリベンジの刻。そして告げられる。「わらわはナギ。この神樹と同じ名じゃ。」・・・。第1幕、第2幕収録。
