ゆず記念すべき40枚目のシングルは、12月27日公開の映画『劇場版 HUNTER×HUNTER The LAST MISSION』主題歌、そして現在放送中のテレビアニメ『HUNTER×HUNTER』エンディングテーマ! 疾走感あふれるサウンドと、メロディに鋭く刻まれるシリアスな歌詩が印象的な「表裏一体」は、ゆずと『HUNTER×HUNTER』コラボ第一弾となった「REASON」に続き、北川悠仁、岩沢厚治、音楽プロデューサー・ヒャダインこと前山田健一氏との三者共作。壮観なスケールを感じさせるシンフォニックなハーモニーを先頭に、「次々と展開される曲調とメロディ、『HUNTER×HUNTER』の世界観と見事にリンクし、たたみかけるような言葉の羅列、終末感漂うストリングスと抑揚のある歌声が「REASON」で表現された"組曲"の域を超えた大曲を生み出した。カップリング曲には、路上時代から披露していた岩沢厚治の作詞・作曲による「値札」を収録。本作で待望のCD音源化となり、ファンには満を持しての収録。【HUNTER×HUNTER Ver.】は、本作のためにマッドハウスが書き下ろした"表裏一体"をイメージしたアニメビジュアルが象徴的。表題曲「表裏一体」に加え、過去に『HUNTER×HUNTER』とタッグを組んだ「REASON」「流れ星キラリ (ゆずバージョン)」と、3曲の劇伴 (インストゥルメンタル曲)を収録。さらに、アニメ内でゴン役を務める潘めぐみ、キルア役の伊瀬茉莉也、クロロ役の宮野真守、ヒソカ役の浪川大輔ら豪華声優陣4名によるスペシャルユニットが歌うゆず提供楽曲「約束の唄」も収録。
