KOF Maximum Impact 2 Sound Track

Although the tracks aren't as memorable, the synth quality is lower, the guitar work is neither as complex nor as prominent, and the track lengths are shorter, the soundtrack to MI2 still happens to be far superior to that of the first. Gone are the prominent vocal insertions amidst guitar-heavy arrangements, replaced instead by a more exotic flavor that doesn't quite fit the archetypes of past KOF games on which we've been nurtured, yet somehow works. On its own, I would give it three stars. But then you listen to the second disc. The second disc, comprised of classic SNK tunes reaching back into the heyday of SNK and to the near present, is a masterpiece of nostalgia sure to cause any SNK fan to erupt into paroxysms of abandoned glee. Some of the selections included are questionable, but the sheer might of the other tracks compensates multifold. Be forewarned that you might experience some unruliness from your neighbors regarding the frequency at which you'll listen to this CD.
