I feel as if Before I Decay is, in a while, an extension of DIM. The A-side sounds a lot like the style on DIM: hard core and fast, yet refined and pristine. [Mayakashi] is a lovely song. The guitar does this reaaally interesting thing at the beginning that attracts my attention immediately. The song is much lighter than [Before I Decay] and is a nice contrast to balance out the single. The special packaging is pretty cool. It's a cardboard slipcase, and the red triangle is actually seathrough. The DVD contains the PV for [Before I Decay] which I actually really enjoy watching. It's just the band rockin out, but the quality is soo superb that it's appealing to watch. The single is a solid release and, in a lot of ways, stands out than most other single releases with it's unique packaging and strong music. Get this single "Before you decay!"

BEFORE I DECAY
I admit this won't be my favorite single, but Before I Decay is in no way a disappointment! A lot of fans I know prefer 'Mayakashi' (the B-side track) over the title track 'Before I Decay', but for me the title track is in plain words , 'kick-ass'. It rocks! The song always gets me energized when i hear it. Of course compared to some of their other title tracks , this is not that impressive. It's catchy yes. I tend to think I would have still rated the single as excellent just for the title track had only Ruki-san wrote it in Japanese. The lyrics have more depth when he uses Japanese~ But sure as he said he felt English suited the mood of the song and I agree the use of English gives Before I Decay the edge it requires. And there is always 'Mayakashi' if one is into soulful lyrics~ But for me, 'Mayakashi''s melody is not that special. It might be pleasant but it's not something that left an strong impression ..just my personal opinion though. Overall it is a decent single and it's not a waste of money. The CD-Jacket is beautiful. I love the artwork and for me artwork of a CD is an important part of a visual-kei artist's work. I don't buy a CD just because the artwork is nice..but when it also contributes in making a single as a whole better and more memorable then why refrain from praising it? The PV is good! Again I think I would have rated this as excellent had they featured a 'making-of'. By the way, the poster that came with it is stunning ^^
watching the DVD on and HDTV with surround sound...blew me away...so much energy was seen and heard on this new single
The title pretty much says it all. Both songs are good. I actually like DAMASHI [瞞し] a little better than the title track. The video is good, but once again not one of the best the GazettE has done. The GazettE is such a great band I would have probably given a better review to anyone else, the GazettE just raises the bar. In spite of the review being just 'Good' & not 'Excellent' this cd is well worth owning & I DO recomend it.
Before I Decay is a speedy and heavy song that is quite expected of the GazettE. While not exactly a 'fresh' song, it is new in certain elements. It certainly sounds like a song to be enjoyed live. As for the B-side, personally, I feel that this song surpasses that of the A-side. There is a certain feeling in the song that reflects its title of 'Deceit' It's an emotional ride. And the PV that comes with this version of the single is a little different from the usual PVs of the GazettE. Lots of jerky camera movements were incorporated probably to give the viewer a sense of 'movement' or speed. It's an interesting technique, but it does get a little too jerky at times. Overall, it's a great single. 5 stars for this single!
