I was very eagerly awaiting this new CD ever since I heard their singles. I was not disappointed. I love their blend of rock and other genre of music. I just wish they didn't have so many previously released track on this CD.

After almost a year's solid build-up following their debut single release "Innocent Sorrow" in 2006, electro-rockers Abingdon Boys School have finally dropped their self-titled debut album. Containing several songs written entirely in English, the intent behind this album is clear: these boys want to go global. It is unfortunately far too easy to become annoyed by lead singer Takanori Nishikawa's domineering voice, and while the rest of the band puts in a stirling performance for most of the album, Nishikawa's vocals turn this album into a love-hate affair. That said, his lyrics and his attention to detail give the band a major boost when things almost fall flat from time to time. "Take a bite, night by night..." Nice. With a worldwide release, the technical skill and immaculate production on this album would easily see them mentioned in the same breath as Evanescence or Lacuna Coil, but I suspect this band are savvy enough to know that this album is far from their best work. An easy four stars nonetheless from me, but if they can survive the acid test of their sophomore album with a superior offering, this band has every likelihood of breaking into the worldwide mainstream.
This album is amazing! Also, the DVD is all region - so anyone without a region 2 player debating on buying the limited edition, stop debating and get it!
