Stage "Joker Game III"

Based on the novel series of the same name by Koji Yanagi, which has sold a total of 1.35 million copies, "Joker Game" was adapted into a TV anime by Production I.G in April 2016 and staged twice in 2017 and 2018. Now, after seven years, the long awaited third stage production, the play "Joker Game III", is released on Blu ray. Superhuman agents risk their lives in deadly intelligence operations, and a supreme spy entertainment unfolds. The script and direction are by Daisuke Nishida, who also handled the first and second stage productions. In this work, which welcomes new cast members as agents of D Agency, the performance presents the title story "Joker Game", the origin of the series that was also staged in the 2017 premiere, together with the first completely original episode for the stage series. In autumn 1937, with the seeds of world war smoldering, a spy training division called D Agency is secretly established within the Imperial Army. The candidates selected as agents are young people who possess superhuman talents in both intellect and physique. Under Lieutenant Colonel Yuuki, the founder of D Agency who has a strategist mind like a magician, they undergo harsh training and acquire every skill required of spies. The motto of D Agency is Do not die, do not kill. For spies whose principle is to avoid standing out, suicide and murder are the worst choices, and this philosophy draws intense opposition from the Army leadership, yet the agents begin their covert activities around the world.
