This review is for the 1984 album SHM-CD release. The SHM-CD release that was done in 2008 is SOOOO much better sounding in every way than this non-SHM cd. I think Warner Music Japan only released the 1984 album on SHM-CD. It's a shame , they need to put the whole VH catalog on SHM and redo the MINI LP's with SHM-CD! The non-SHM cd sounds compressed and limited in sound compared to the SHM-CD release. The SHM really opens the sound up with much better clarity, dynamics, depth and warmth. I've never heard this album sound SOOOO good!! Please CD Japan , get Warner Music Japan to consider re-doing the whole VH catalog on SHM-CD!!! It's a no brainer and it's a winner....many, many fans are just waiting for Van Halen on SHM-CD. Please CD Japan push for it and get it done! Please! Thank You , Sincerely.......Joe

These Van Halen Roth era mini LPs are excellent.. identical packaging to original records released including inner sleeves, inserts and Warner Bros label on the CD. I gave this only 4 stars simply because it is NOT a SHM version.. the audio uses the 2001 remastering. I bought them anyway since I am a VH nerd ;) Please WARNER JAPAN reissue Van Halen Roth era CDs on SHM with card board sleeve mini Lps (like the Alice Cooper ones which are excellent)!!!
THE LAST GREAT ALBUM WITH DLR, NOBODY KNEW WHEN THIS CAME OUT IN NOVEMBER 83 THAT THIS WOULD BE THE LAST TIME ANYONE WOULD SEE DLR BACK IN VH TILL 2007, THIS ALBUM WAS OK, THE TOUR IN 1984 WAS GREAT BUT THE SONGS WHERE GETTING TO RADIO FRIENDLY AT THIS POINT. THIS WAS TRUELY THE END OF AN ERA............
