Not a great album. 3

This is as decent pop album. Which is to say, since her parting with Yoko Kanno her music has been good but not fantastic, which is what we've come to expect of her. However, there are still a few good tracks here (such as NO FEAR).

Yunagi loop 3

althougth is a nice cd, after the others Maaya's albums, can looks a bit "young". this can be because this time Yoko Kano dont participate in the cd. Anyway, althought is a bit childish, is a nice one to listen.

somehow I felt in love with "Loop" and "happy ending", but I cannot consider this last one as one of my favorite's Maaya songs.

[Yuunagi LOOP] Review 3

The album had a some great songs in it but overall, it kind of fell beneath my expectations. Unlike her previous albums, this one was unclear on what direction it's taking her.

New directions for Sakamoto-san 4

Fans were divided when they heard Maaya would be collaborating with an all-new team after her longtime exclusive partnership with Yoko Kanno. The resulting album is mixed and may seem different to those used to her older style, but it is by no means a bad CD.

The most surprising departure from her traditional instrumentally driven ballads is Honey Come, which strays close to techno at times with its driving beat, but retains the cute vocal delivery we have come to expect. Wakaba's gentle tempo laid over electronic skitterings in the background makes it soothing and fun to listen to, and Paprika's jazz experimentation produces enjoyable results.

In the middle of the album comes No Fear, a gentle piano piece with underlying power that sounds the closest to Kanno's past compositions for Maaya, which will delight longtime fans even if the soaring Unison and jingly Fuku Desu Ka fail to do so.

Though not cast in the mold of her previous releases, fans will find plenty to love here.

A side note: my first press preorder came with a lovely large poster of Maaya, so even those who are less enticed by the CD may want to consider purchase for this lovely piece of memorabilia.

Yuunagi LOOP 5

My absolute favorite album by Maaya. Beautiful from start to finish. A lighter, dreamy feeling album compared to Shounen Alice. Well written songs (I love "Hello"). Maaya does well in her first album without Kanno. Needless to say a must buy for Maaya's fans and a good first album for anyone interested in her works. An easy listening delight.

yunagi loop!! 5

this is the 5th album of maaya, if you compare the first albums with this you will note that the maaya music is best cd by cd...

dont mess this album...

Yunagi Loop 4

So, how does the album match up without the famed Yoko Kanno composing and arranging her songs?

Not too bad, actually. I already have my favourite tracks, namely 1, 2 and 12.

Listening to the album, it's obvious that Maaya-san has grown up. The whole album have a very grown-up feel. Not suprising since she wrote most of the songs herself and she did say in an interview that she intends to show that she has matured under the care of Kanno-sama.

I still feel something is missing though. The whole album is quite easy lisening and pop, something that you would expect on the j-pop chart. So it feels kinda weird, as though Maaya have borrowed some songs to sing from the radio. *gasp!* In other words, I think she has been commercialised!

And we should be thankful for little miracles, that h-wonder did not do another experiment ala High Touch.

Well, I could get used to the album. I hope she will collaborate with Kanno-sama again. I still think Lucy is her best album. It is obvious that Maaya-san has put alot of heart and effort into the album to emphasize (as she said) her own style.

Light music for sophisticated ears 4

"Yunagi Loop" was the first CD ever I purchased from CDJapan, and up to date, it has remained one of my favourites in my CD shelf. The cover art of the album is almost breathtaking, plus the songs in the CD, in spite of their small number, are very enjoyable to listen to. The CD-ROM of the Limited Edition version is also a nice addition. Overall, the CD is great pick if you like Japanese pop from the lighter side of the scale - or just Maaya in general.
