I bought this edition with mixed-feelings. I already own the western-edition disc but i was seduced by the mini-lp presentation as i am along-term Tom Waits fan. After i played this remastered SHM-CD i was blown away by the best-sounding Tom Waits album i ever heard. The soundstage is immense, with great detail and depth of sound. I bought all of them (available ones) and i just can't wait for new release. Now i use this album for audio tests on various systems. (my setup: Meridian / JeffRowland / Raidho Eben)

When I first heard this album years ago it just blew me away.Never before had I heard an artist with the the writing skills and musical imagination of Tom Waits.To me, he sounded like a combination of Bob Dylan and a street Carney. He makes the most mundane things sound incredibly interesting and that is a testament to his incredible ability to give vision to his words. As far as the sound quality of this disc: it is the best of have heard so far.The definition and seperation are very good. The packaging is fine though I do wish the cardboard sleeves were thicker. For the uninitiated ,this or Rain Dogs ,is a good place to start investigating this most unique recording artist.
