今年2月に初の日本武道館公演を含む6年ぶり通算15回目の日本公演が決定したメガデスの来日記念盤。メガデスは、デビュー前のメタリカに在籍していたデイヴ・ムステイン (vo, g)を中心にL.A.で結成され、1985年のインディ・レーベルからのレコード・デビューを経て、1986年に米キャピトル・レコードからメジャー・デビュー。その後、ギタリストのマーティ・フリードマンとドラマーのニック・メンザを含む1990年代の黄金期のラインナップで、1992年のアルバム『破滅へのカウントダウン』(原題: Countdown to Extinction)発表後の1993年3月に初の日本武道館公演を含む4度目の来日公演を発表。しかし、このときは、メンバーの健康問題を理由にキャンセルされ、その後、8回にわたる日本公演でも、彼らが武道館のステージを踏むことはなかった。その武道館公演のキャンセルから、今年でちょうど30年。世界中で一大センセーションを巻き起こしている話題のニュー・アルバムを引っ提げて、メガデスがついに初めて武道館のステージに立つ。この来日を記念して、日本のみ特別にリリースが許可されたこのツアー・エディションは、今回の日本公演のベースとなる話題のニュー・アルバム『ザ・シック、ザ・ダイイング・・・アンド・ザ・デッド!』に、新たにボーナス・トラック2曲を追加。海外の一部地域で発売されたCDに収録されていた、サミー・ヘイガーをゲスト参加している「ジス・プラネッツ・オン・ファイア」と、メガデスの初期の名曲「殺しの呪文」の2021年のライヴ・ヴァージョンをCDに新たに追加。なお、このアルバムからのリード・シングル「ウィル・ビー・バック」は、2023年の第65回グラミー賞の"最優秀メタル・パフォーマンス部門"にノミネートされている。CDは、SHM-CD仕様。また、このツアー・エディションに同梱のDVDには、メガデスのマスコットであるヴィック・ラトルヘッドの起源を描いた壮大なアクション満載の短編映画風のビデオ「ウィル・ビー・バック: チャプター I」から最新ビデオ「キリング・タイム: チャプターV」まで、全5曲のミュージック・ビデオを収録。日本独自企画。
