though in my opinion nothing ever topped the first velvet underground lp with nico the year before this was released THIS WAS OF COARSE THE SECOND BEST THING THE VU DID next to the andy wharhol album, i was suprised last year when the first album was super deluxed it did not get a japan release so i bought the uk one, well in 2013 i was very pleased this one got a japan release as i love the shm mastering, this comes with a wonderful coffee table book with loads of nice photos and both the stereo and mono mixes of this classic from 1967 are awesome, also the live cd is great and it really gives you an idea what it was like almost 50 years ago when this band of greenwich village misfits where playing the clubs in nyc, the vu left us with timeless music and are considered godfathers of punk and the no wave as well as the whole underground scene, i dont think that was there intention way back in the 60s but it came out that way, i can say this much as i am not old enough to have seen this great band but i can imagine how off the wall this record sounded in 1967 with all the pop and psyche coming up at this time, NOBODY, NO OTHER BAND SOUNDED LIKE THIS and even though there have been rip off bands of the velvet underground the past 45 years and so many punk bands covered songs like waiting for my man in the late 70s and early 80s still NO OTHER BAND TO THIS DAY CAN NAIL THIS SOUND DOWN LIKE LOU REED ,JOHN CALE AND STERLING MORRISSON DID ALL THESE YEARS AGO, sadly as anyone reading this knows lou reed just passed away in october 2013, sterling died way back in 1995, i think john cale and mo tucker are the only surviving members of this band as nico passed away way back in 1982, anyway this release is for a real big vu fan, if you are just a casual vu fan you can always get the regular edition of this classic album, if you loved this band as much as i did GRAB THIS BOX SET you wont be sorry...
