Farkas: Orchestral Music. Volume Five

ハンガリーの作曲家ファルカシュの管弦楽作品集。第4集までのアルバムには、バロック時代の形式を用いたユニークで活発な作品が多く収録されていたが、この第5集では劇的で悲劇的な暗い作品が多く集められている。重々しく悲痛な表情で始まる「交響的序曲」、タイトル通り悲し気な「悲歌」など暗く冷え冷えとした曲調は、聴き手の耳を捉えて離さない。大先輩であるリストの「詩的で宗教的な調べ」の第7曲「葬送」のファルカシュによる管弦楽編曲版も聴きどころ。原曲のピアノ版が極限まで拡大された鮮やかな作品になっている。作曲家と同じ苗字を持つピアニスト、ガボールを独奏者に迎えた「コンチェルティーノ」はファルカシュらしい躍動的で華やかな作品。
