70年作品。記念すべき第一弾ソロ・アルバムでコロムビア時代に残した唯一のソロ作品でもある。本作は『永遠のフィルモア・ウェスト』の後に録音され、レコーディングに参加しているミュージシャンもフィルモア・ライヴとほぼ同じで、ニック・グレイヴナイツ、マーク・ナフタリン、ジョン・カーン等の名が並ぶ。この時期のマイクは非常に多くの作品に参加しており、凄腕のギタリストとして様々なレコーディング現場で引っ張りだこ状態の中、ようやく自分のアルバム制作に時間を割くことができた。ここでは新境地を打ち出すかのように、彼の幅広い音楽的な素養をベースにしたルーズでリラックスした仕上がりとなった。その大きな特徴として彼自身がかねてから切望していた"ブルース・シンガー"としての側面だ。味と暖かみのあるマイクのヴォーカル・ワークに重きを置いたサウンドはまさに彼の地元であるシカゴ・ブルース的。70年代に入り、彼の本質である本物のブルース志向(憧れはB.B.キング)に深く根ざした音楽的なスタイルへと向かうが、それを如実に物語る最初の作品となっている。08年デジタルリマスター盤。 ◆ 紙ジャケット仕様 / Blu-spec CD2 / 解説・歌詞対訳付き
