昨年、初期5枚のアルバムをOriginal Mono&Stereo音源 + Bonus Track (Mono音源)という構成で紙ジャケ仕様でリリース、好評を博した。ソニーに残した後期アルバム6枚についても再発の要望が多く寄せられた。6作目以降はMono Albumを制作していないが、今回は97/00年のリマスター&リミックスではなく、オリジナル盤発売当時のマスターを使用し、さらにMono音源を含む、Bonus Trackを可能な限り収録という構成を予定。既にアルバムを持っているファンにもアピールできる充実の内容。 ■ 7th となる『バーズ博士とハイド氏』(1969年)はオリジナル・メンバーがロジャー・マッギン唯一人となったが、天才ギタリスト、クラレンス・ホワイトらをメンバーに迎え、「宇宙の夜明け」をテーマにカントリをはじめ、サイケデリック、ロックンロールなど様々な要素を取り入れ、新境地を見せたアルバム。名曲「火の車」、「ドラッグ・ストア・ドライヴィング・マン」、映画"キャンディ"主題歌「チャイルド・オブ・ザ・ユニバース」収録。全米チャートでは最高第153位と振るわなかったものの、全英では第15位とヒットした。 ★完全生産限定盤 / Blu-spec CD2 / 解説歌詞対訳付 / 紙ジャケット / オリジナル発売日: 1969年
