ボブ・ディランの1979年作品。再生派キリスト教に入信したボブ・ディランが、キリスト教と深く関わる内容のアルバムを完成させる。彼の変容振りに慣れているはずにも関わらず、宗教に傾倒すると言うディランの大きな変化しかも突然の出来事に対して批判的な意見が噴出する。しかしながら南部で活躍するジェリー・ウェクスラーとバリー・ベケットをプロデューサーに据え、当時新進バンドであったダイア・ストレイツのギタリスト、マーク・ノップラーをゲストに迎えてのタイトな音作りは歌にマッチしその世界に力と深みを与え、後に傑作アルバムの一つに上げられるようになる。シングル「ガッタ・サーヴ・サムバディ」はヒットし、ディランにとっての初のグラミー賞「最優秀男性ロック歌手」に選ばれた。 解説・歌詞・対訳付。
