名古屋音楽大学卒業後、様々な種類のコンサート用委嘱作品を作曲、1980年代に相次いで作曲されたマンドリン合奏曲をはじめ、クラシックスタイルのみならず、ジャズ・ロック・ポップスから映画、ドキュメンタリーの映像音楽までジャンルを問わず作曲活動を展開する水野。当アルバムに収録されているオーケストラ組曲はクラシックスタイルを基盤とし、古典音楽の骨格と主に20世紀後半以降の大衆的要素を合わせ持った作風。両組曲は"人の憂いと夢"をテーマに作曲され、第2番は「陰/憂い」、第3番が「陽/夢」を情景描写している。
