20年前にこのアルバムが初登場した時には、CDのケースに"耳栓"がセットされるという衝撃的なものだった。刺激的でエキサイティングな曲ばかりが集められているが、"1枚を通して聴いてもらうために"ところどころ静かな曲が配置されているところもユーザー思い。演奏する際にはオーケストラに22人のパーカッション奏者を配しただけでなく、4組の岩石とハンマーも用意されるなど、大きな音を出すために万全の準備をして録音に臨んだのだそうで、最後のトラック「ヘクラ火山 (フィンランド最大の活火山)」での爆音は、恐らくこれまでに書かれたクラシック音楽の中でも最も大きな音であろうと言われている。そんな伝説のアルバム、長らく廃盤になっていたが、リリース20年を記念しての復活。
