Tennstedt, who grew up in the former East Germany, excelled in Prokofiev's Fifth Symphony, and his spectacular performance with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Munich on December 1-2, 1977, is still recorded, but two months earlier he performed the same work with the Orchestre National de France. Two months before that, he performed the same piece with the Orchestre National de France, which was reportedly even better than the Munich performance. テンシュテットが燃えに燃えたパリのプロコフィエフ! 旧東独で育ったテンシュテットはプロコフィエフの交響曲第5番を得意とし、1977年12月1-2日にミュンヘンで行われたバイエルン放響との壮絶な演奏が残されていますが、その2ヵ月前に同曲をフランス国立管弦楽団と披露しています。これはミュンヘン以上の凄さだったと伝えられていますが、何と音源がina(フランス国立視聴覚研究所)に残っていました。第2次世界大戦勝利を祝って書かれたとされる作品で、明朗な演奏が多いなかテンシュテットはどす黒く渦巻く感情と暴力的な迫力で、プロコフィエフが背後に隠した恐ろしさを白日もとに晒しているかのようです。当LPは全世界500枚の完全限定プレスの180g重量盤です。
