Recorded between 1925 and 1932 by the German piano roll maker Werte Mignon, these recordings show the genius of the young Horowitz. Most of the pieces have actual recordings, but the strength of this recording is that it reproduces the performance of the young man in the most up-to-date sound. Chopin's "Exercise in E-flat minor," for example, is a thrill to hear Horowitz's unique singing. Also valuable are the fantasy from "The Marriage of Figaro" by Liszt-Busoni and a waltz of his own composition, which he did not record later. Includes Japanese obi and commentary.
