Neolog Reviews

Post reviews on Neolog and interact with people from all over the world!

neolog Just OK 4

The only reason I gave it a 4 was because Uruha's guitar really stood out to me.

neolog Darker, and more angsty 4

I fell in love with their musical style in NIL album, and liked the way Ruki projected his emotions in the songs. Then came Stacked Rubbish which was.. well, very disappointing to me. Slightly pop-ish and light.

This album is reminiscent of NIL album, dark and moody. Almost back to NIL style. I do not mind the 'fillers', as it kinda makes one anticipate the song that will follow thereafter. Fave songs are NAKIGAHARA, HEADACHE MAN, 13STAIRS[-]1, OGRE, DIM SCENE.

neolog Uhm 3

Awaited this like crazy, but after listening to all the tracks...what should I say. Bands do change, yeah. They need to. But personally I don't like the change Gazette did with this album. I got the feeling they took the songs from the previous singles, put on the tracklist and started wondering "what else should we throw on it too?" Then they came up with these fillers. I call them fillers coz the length asks for this name. They make no sense (at least not for me), doesn't fit with the songs we've known already. And the new songs (which ones are indeed songs) are quite heavy, but so far they couldn't get to grow on me.
Beat me or my taste, but that's what I feel at the moment.

DIM is dark : ) 5

To make this short (i tried), DIM is an awesome album, one of my favs (possibly most). The feel of the whole album is very dark, since it is "dim", how the dark is taking over light. At first I didn't appreciate the album enough, but now i truly do after reading some reviews that "opened my eyes"...the transitions of their instrumentals are not just "there", but give the extra kick and a reminder that it is a dark and eerie cd which totally works because i felt scared.
I loved ALL the songs its really hard to choose. BUT..."Nakigahara", "Invisible Wall", and "Guren"(cannot stop listening to). Nakigahara is long, but i think its the perfect length to convey Ruki's feelings (especially the end). And his vocals really make it wrenching. I love hearing Ruki's voice by itself too. "Ogre", "Leech", "13 stairs" are good headbangers and can't wait till i see them perform it live! I didn't understand why people disliked "In the Middle of Chaos" so much because i found it likable and quite catchy (as in i wouldn't skip the song). I guess the title ("chaos")gave a different impression that people might have anticipated (to be intensely dark?) but i found it quite upbeat like i would dance to it haha.
The Gazette's style is still there, its just that they experimenting themes, and i think it was a success. They focused well on the eeriness and planned the order of tracks well. Their songs didn't sound the same just because it revolved around one theme, but it was the similar mood(as they get transitioned). It's different from their other albums which makes it even more awesome. This album is DIM, dark and eerie all the way! :D

Exactly like the boys I've always loved 5

I think the album was amazing. One thing that I've always love about the Gazette is how each song sounds so completely different than the rest. They all have their own personality, and their own emotions. My personal favorite song wasn't one of the previous singles, although I do love them all, but I really love 13STAIRS[-]1. Ruki's voice is beautiful to say the least, always has been, always will be. And a lot of bands use fillers, like for example Cradle of Filth. They put randomn short instrumental songs between their other songs, and I think it helps the music. Maybe the Gazette doesn't want to be understood, or maybe it just takes a certain person to understand them. Overall, the album was filled with everything that makes the Gazette my favorite band. It was amazing, beautiful, and just what I'd been hoping for from them.
