"Saikyo Koroshiya Densetsu Kunioka" (Legend of the Strongest Assassin Kunioka) is a mockumentary work in which film director Yugo Sakamoto, noted for action and comedy works, follows the daily life of "Masayuki Kunioka" (played by Masayuki Ino), a freelance contract killer. It has received fervent support as the starting point of director Sakamoto career, who has produced many hit works such as the "Nemuru Baka" and "Baby Assassins" series, and its humor and action, which run through his other works as well, have captivated many fans. This work, "Flame Union: Saikyo Koroshiya Densetsu Kunioka [Shito Hen]," is a double-lead feature starring Ino as Kunioka and Takuya Matsumoto as "Takuya Manaka," who emerged as Kunioka partner from the previous work "Green Bullet: Saikyo Koroshiya Densetsu Kunioka [Gasshuku Hen]." Second-rate as an assassin and prone to escaping into alcohol when troubled, the unremarkable Manaka anguish and conflict are played true-to-life by Matsumoto. Whether or not he has a talent for killing is unknown, yet he still has a reason to continue as an assassin... Beyond the harsh training with Kunioka, what Manaka found was, surprisingly, "bonds" and "growth"! This work features distinctive assassins appearing one after another, packed with highlights from comical exchanges to powerful action. The action director is Hiroki Kakiuchi, who handled the swordsmanship instruction for the flashback scenes in "A Samurai in Time." A culmination of the series by the three -- Sakamoto, Ino, and Matsumoto -- who have known each other for ten years since their university days, is now magnificently complete! -- Assassin Takuya Manaka had been living his days supplementing his livelihood with part-time work. One day, he makes a big mistake in a request to procure a gun and, on the brink of death, is saved by fellow assassin Masayuki Kunioka. However, that incident causes Manaka to receive a suspension from the assassins association. Amid this, the one who suddenly appears is Manaka father, the original number one in the Kyoto assassin ranking. Shouting "If you can not even do your job properly, go help out at the family home, idiot!", he forcibly drags Manaka off to the family home. Some time later, when Kunioka goes to check on him, there he finds a completely changed Manaka who calmly does the housework and devotes himself to helping the household. But Kunioka words, "You know... you do not really want to quit being an assassin, do you?", reignite Manaka dormant fighting spirit. Feeling the limits of his own talent yet challenging his father to a duel, he resolves to walk the path of an assassin once again. To defeat his strongest father, days of fierce training begin--!!
