Lalo Schifrin: Piano Works

アルゼンチン出身の作曲家、編曲家、ジャズ・ピアニスト、指揮者ラロ・シフリン。アルゼンチンの大学でクラシックを学び、一時期はパリに留学。メシアン、ケクランにも師事し、作曲技法に磨きをかけました。ジャズやタンゴのアレンジャーとして活躍していましたが、その名前を一躍広めたのは、なんといってもハリウッドで手掛けた「スパイ大作戦」や「燃えよドラゴン」などの一連の映画作品でしょう。とりわけ「スパイ大作戦」のテーマ曲は、映画化された「ミッション・インポッシブル」でも使用され、緊迫感と共に一度聴いたら忘れられないほどの強い印象を人々の脳裏に刻み込んでいます。もちろんこのアルバムの冒頭にも収録。ピアノで聴くのはまた違った雰囲気となっています。もちろん彼が得意としていたタンゴやジャズ作品もたっぷり。世界初録音となる「創作主題による10の変奏曲」は2017年最新のオリジナル作品の一つで、80歳を超えた2017年現在でも全く創作意欲の衰えを感じさせません。
