Neolog Reviews

Post reviews on Neolog and interact with people from all over the world!

neolog These guys need their own shelf!!! 5

This is an EXTREMELY powerful album!!! The album (band) are THE ones responsible for getting me into Jrock!! Full of ultra-heavy guitar riffs, rich and provocative vocals, the GazettE could even learn from these guys!!
However, I'm only giving this 4 stars... (More like 4.5)

Yes, I absolutely adore the heavy, hard rock, almost metal taste, with an old school 80¡Çs rock twist, however some things disappointed me in regards to the overall album...

Some songs just didn¡Çt deliver. They just didn¡Çt fulfill their ¡Èduty¡É in the album. Via Dolorosa, for example, has some deliciously wicked guitar work, however, the tempo and melody slows down too much, into sort of a weak ballad. I got the impression that it was going to stay a heavy rock tune, but maybe that's just what I was hoping for..But, I have to agree though, and think that it's still good.

Lost Reason, was sooo freaking awesome, but I got so disappointed by this remix. Hearing Micro rap on it, detracted from a.b.s' work, which was absolutely superb. But just listening to this song again after not hearing it in a long time, made me even grow back in love with these guys! Even WITH the annoying rapping!! An impressive song, anyone who appreciates good hard rock, will LOVE this song, (yet prefer the original.) So somehow, this song is still an overwhelming success!

The only other thing that really disappointed me, was some awesome songs that were on the singles, (Fre@k Show, Nervous Breakdown) weren't on here. That was the number 1 disappointment.

My favorites are, ¡ÈHowling¡É (same as the single version), ¡ÈInnocent Sorrow¡É, and ¡ÈNephilim¡É are AWESOME, as are Down to you", "As one" and.. *cringe* ¡ÈLost Reason¡É.

Overall, I was disappointed.. a little. There are some songs that don¡Çt deliver, but the ones that do, are really a knock-out!!! Sunao and Shibasaki are guitar GODS!! Nishikawa¡Çs voice, is remarkable, probably THE best Japanese vocalist! His Japanese is delightful, but his English is breathtaking! First of all, you can¡Çt tell English isn¡Çt his native language. But two, his English voice is.. rich, powerful, and has an absolutely charming uniqueness to it. Harsh and potent, yet smooth deliciousness!!!
These guys are amazing, plain and simple.

Thinking about it now, just disregard the negatives and buy it!! It's so freaking impressive!(Changes stars to 5) Absolutely awesome, anyone will fall in love with rock with this! I can¡Çt wait for a new album!!!!

Awesome Album 5

One of the best albums I've ever heard. Apart from the songs included in the singles, the tracks Via Dolorosa, Dress and ReBirth + ReVerse are just incredible. A must-buy for any fan, and if not, buying this will convert you.

a.b.s. debut album 5

I'll be the first to admit that I've gone "ga-ga" over a.b.s.! Everything they release is a must have for me! I've had this CD for months now, and I still listen to it regularly. Friend of mine also got me the Blu-Ray for their album tour, and it's almost as good as what they did in the studio. I just wish I had been able to get a copy of the Limited Edition of this Album. I hope they are able to realease another album soon because they are fantastic! If anyone reading this hasn't heard them yet, you need to buy this CD pronto! : )

Great! 5

The first song that I heard by ABS was Via Dolorosa. When I listened to this album, I thought "finally I found my favourite band!". I love all songs from this album and can't stop listening them over and over!

TM Revolutionized 5

I got so excited when I first caught the PV for Innocent Sorrow online at Youtube. After waiting so long to hear all of the songs I wasn't disapointed at all. It's a stellar debut album that features a wide variety of styles. It's not surprising, considering TM Revolution is well known for his amazing music, but I feel like he has taken it to a new level with ABS. You get to see a whole new side to him that I wasn't expecting. Best songs hands down would have to be Innocent Sorrow, Howling, Nephilim, and Lost Reason. I hope ABS releases more stuff like this in the future that I can get my hands on. I the meantime YOU should get your hands on THIS!

Awesome Album (not for metal heads tho) 5

The long anticipated debut Album for Abingdon Boys School wasn't a least bit disappointing, Nishikawa's powerful vocals is as great as ever, and the band's guitarist showcased his talents on several ocassions, one thing that was really noticable in most of their songs is that the band's style was hugely influenced by Linkin Park (that's the part that most metal heads may not appreciate), the addition of Rap into the song "Lost Reason" only made them even more similar, but contrary to what most ppl thought, I personally thought the rapping made the song more interesting, in the Single version it sounded a little empty and the singing time seemed more than three times less than the music itself, and besides the rapping only makes the Guitar solo near the end of the song more stunning, the song "Via Dolorosa" is an absolute masterpiece, ABS have really outdone themselves on this one, at some parts it does feel like a crossover between Evanescence and Linkin Park but it's very unique never the less, all the other songs were great except "Rebirth + Reverse", a very dull conclusion to an otherwise incredible album, I just hope ABS's success doesn't mean T.M Revolution is gone for good.

great album! 4

I preordered this cd as soon as it showed on CDJapan, and I don't regret it. I've always loved TMR, and ABS is awesome too! T

here are some downsides to the album though , like the 'new' version of lost reason. The song was fine to begin with, why add Micro to it? The song is still fine as it is now, but I would've preferred the original. Also, I was a bit disappointed when I found out that it didn't include the songs 'nervous breakdown' and 'freak show', but to compensate, the other songs added to the album like 'As One', 'Via Dolorosa'and 'Atena' are great!

If you like TMR, and are up for a change to a bit more 'rock' feeling, buy this cd ^^

A.B.S. Debut album a great effort but... 4

abingdon boys school debut album a great effort but it does contain some flaws.
The album starts off with the very rocking track "As One." I always liked songs that use other time signatures other than the standard 4/4 time. "As One" uses a 6/8 time signature and for that reason alone it rocks. "Via Dolorosa" is an incredible feat in song writing, the arrangement is just top notch. The biggest disappointments in the album are "LOST REASON " and "REBIRTH + REVERSE." "LOST REASON" features a rap from MICRO that just doesn't match with the song and it sounds like a amateur mixing job, it also sounds like an after thought. The song was fine without the rap. "REBIRTH + REVERSE" is just a bad instrumental that instead of closing the album with a bang, it closes the album with a whimper. Missing from this album (which means it should have been included)is the excellent track "NERVOUS BREAKDOWN" with was the second track on the "Howling" single.
