1999年2月に結成。小田急線沿線の駅前路上や海老名・厚木中心に各地ライブハウスで活動中。地元厚木の有機栽培で育てられた純度の高い歌声と天真爛漫な独自のキャラクターを併せ持つ"ハイテンション丸顔シンガー"吉岡の歌う、恋愛や日常を切り取った切なくもリアリティーのある歌詞と、海老名の天才児山下&水野が創る昭和から平成の日本語歌謡のツボを押さえた懐かしくも新しいポップス王道の楽曲が、いきものがかり独自の世界感を作り出す。途中2年間の活動休止期間があるものの、各地で行なう路上ライブが徐々に話題を集め、地元ライブハウスでのワンマンライブでは毎回に渡り動員数が300名を超える。そして2005年3月に行なわれた厚木市文化会館での初ホールワンマンライブではキャパ400をSOLD OUT。2003年発売の1st CD「誠に僭越ながらファーストアルバムを拵えました」、2004年発売の2nd CD「七色こんにゃく」は、地元数店舗のみの発売で共に1000枚以上のセールスを重ねており、神奈川地区、なかでも厚木&海老名での人気・知名度はかなりメジャー級。2005年5月には4曲入りミニアルバム「人生すごろくだべ。」をインディーズリリース。県央最強アーティストへ向けて始動する。
