アニメ『もやしもん』が遂にBlu-ray BOX化!! アニメーション制作を手がけるのは、『ALWAYS 三丁目の夕日』や『SPACE BATTLESHIP ヤマト』等で圧巻のCG映像を作り上げた白組。CMや劇場映画のクオリティをベースに、本作で初めてTVアニメを制作し、原作に登場する100種類以上の菌をCGで完全再現! 菌の声優にはハイキングウォーキング、ムーディ勝山、仲村みうといった個性派タレントが出演し話題に。――農大を舞台に、菌と少しばかりの人間が右往左往する物語。主人公、沢木惣右衛門直保は、空気中の菌が目に見えるという特殊な体質の持ち主。もやし(種麹 ※)屋の息子である彼は、幼なじみで造り酒屋の息子・結城蛍とともに農業大学進学のため東京にやってきた。入学式当日、祖父からのメモに書かれた樹という人物に会いに行く二人。祖父と古くからの知り合いという樹は、菌について語りだすと止まらない、ちょっと奇異な老教授だった。その後、樹研究室に出入りするようになった沢木は、新たな「菌」と「発酵」の世界に触れながらも、彼を取り巻く少し変わった人たちとの出会いによって、様々な騒動に振り回されていくことに・・・。全11話を収録した2枚組。
