SHUNSUKE KIKUCHI

His name may not be familiar, but if you've watched enough anime or super sentai, then you've heard his music. Since the early 1960s, Kikuchi-san has scored more film and TV than perhaps anyone, almost 300 titles! His style has remained fairly consistent, brass and percussion for action scenes, emotional themes get strings and piano and, of course, there are always those wacky comedy motifs filed with odd sounds. The only major change in his style has been the introduction of synthesizers, which have allowed him to expand his musical pallet, unfettered by budgets that often limited the size of his orchestras. He has also written many of the theme songs that opened or closed his programs.

Another long time contributor to both TV and film, Watanabe-san scored many of the early classic Sci-Fi movies, including the "Starman" ("Super Giant") adventures and the Japanese version of "Spider-Man."
