Layton Kyoju to Saigo no Jikan Ryoko Original Soundtrack

Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel has not yet been released in any other country besides Japan. Nevertheless, I still wanted to listen to the music. This soundtrack could argubly be the best in the trilogy, due to the fact that it uses better instruments. The album starts out beatifuly with "Theme of the Last Time Travel", proformed by the Grand Layton Caravan Orchestra. Yes, I said "orchestra." Unlike the other two albums, this one features an actual orchestra. However, most of the album is synthisized with a mixture of real instruments. A few tracks worth listening to would be "London 2"," Puzzles 3", and "With Memory." One of my favorite tracks is "Casino Number 7." It starts out with a jazzy piano melody soon added with a rythemic drum beat and finaly added with a swinging saxaphone. Yes, I also said saxaphone. A saxaphone in Professor Layton? Who knew? You are also treated to a piano piece called "Time Travel ~ Piano Ver. ~ (Live Version)", proformed by Ann Sally. The live tracks are probably the best tracks in the soundtrack. You get to hear many instrumental variations of "The Professor's Trunk", but the best ones in my opinion are "London (Live Version)" and "Huge Weapon (Live Version)." "London" features some impresive violin work and "Huge Weapon" has the best orchestra work I have ever seen. The soundtrack also includes high quality tracks, but like I noted in my previous Layton reviews, they where nothing special. Luckely, only two where on the soundtrack. All and all this soundtrack uses spectacular music for the final chapter in the Professor Layton series. Yes, I said "final chapter", but the Professor Layton series is not over. In fact it is just beginning. Level 5 has stated that there are two more planned trilogys plus a Layton movie every winter. Japan already has the first game in the new trilogy called "Professor Layton and the Specter's Flute" centering on how Luke and Layton met. The animated film "Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva" has also been recently released in Japan. Level 5 has stated that evetually all the games will be released in North America and the United Kingdom. Until then Layton fans can satisfy their tastes by purchasing these soundtracks!

The music from the Professor Layton games can sometimes be a bit repetitive, still, the theme tune to this game and the charming songs inside make it a worthy buy. Especially if you are a Layton fan. The cherry on top of this item is the insert. It does not hold the track listings, those are seperate, but it includes artwork and screenshots from the game. It makes the CD presentation even nicer for fans.
