Shibuya Disco Hits

[Machine Translation] It has been 40 years since Mugen and Byblos, the pioneers of disco, were established in Akasaka, Tokyo, in 1968. This compilation album features hit disco music from the late 70s to the early 80s, the most important period in the history of disco in Japan, which still boasts strong popularity among a wide range of age groups today. The music was selected and supervised by black music critic Masaharu Yoshioka and DJ Shoji Suzuki. In order to reproduce the playlists of the time more realistically, the hit songs popular in the discos of Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Roppongi, which were all booming at the time, are divided by district and recorded on four albums. This "Shibuya version" contains "Blacon" and "Light Surfer Disco Hits. This is a Japan-only release.

1968年、東京・赤坂にディスコの走りと言われる「ムゲン」や「ビブロス」が出来て40年。現在も幅広い年代に根強い人気を誇る日本のディスコの歴史の中で、最重要な時期であった70年代後半～80年代初頭にヒットしたディスコ・ミュージックを集めたコンピレーション・アルバム。選曲・監修はブラック・ミュージック評論家・吉岡正晴氏とDJ・鈴木しょう治氏。当時のプレイリストをよりリアルに再現すべく、当時大きく盛り上がっていた新宿・渋谷・六本木の各ディスコで流行っていたヒット曲を地区別に分け、4枚のアルバムに収録。今作「渋谷編」は、ブラコンやライトなサーファー・ディスコ・ヒッツを収録。 日本独自企画盤。
