フィラデルフィア管黄金時代の底力を刻印した華麗かつ繊細な名演! サン=サーンスの「オルガン付き」は、オーマンディが最も得意とした交響曲の一つで、モノラル～ステレオ～デジタルを通じて4種類もの録音を残している。当盤に収録されているのはその2度目の録音となった1962年盤で、アメリカで絶大な人気を誇ったオルガニスト、パワー・ビッグスとの共演。この録音は、フィラデルフィア管の本拠地アカデミー・オブ・ミュージックのエオリアン=スキナー社製オルガンを使用するため、ソニー・クラシカルのステレオ録音としては異例ながら、同ホールで録音が行われた貴重な例といえる。「展覧会の絵」も3種類の録音が残されたお得意のレパートリーで、ラヴェルの精緻を極めたオーケストレーションを完璧に再現してゆくオーマンディの手腕が見事。黄金時代のフィラデルフィア管の名奏者たちの恐るべき技巧の冴えを刻印した名録音でもある。CD初出以来二十数年ぶりの新規リミックス&リマスターによって、コロンビアの優れた「360サウンド」のクオリティの高さが鮮明に聴き取れる。 ●世界初SA-CDハイブリッド化 ●日本独自企画 ●録音年: 1962年10月7日、1966年4月21日&1968年6月18日/収録場所: フィラデルフィア、アカデミー・オブ・ミュージック、タウン・ホール
