Te wo Tsunagu KoraJapanese Moviechildhood masterpieceIn Te wo Tsunagu Kora a young autistic boy obsessed with repetitive tasks who is seen as a burden by his teacher switches schools to one where the teacher is more understanding of his quirks, then faces bullying when another new student arrives. His good nature makes him shrug off everything, which in turn teaches the other kids lessons about life and friendship. The finale is uplifting and fun as his class competes against another in a sumo tournament and his calm, unassuming nature comes in handy to great comic effect. I would rank this among the great Japanese childhood films on par with the works of Hiroshi Shimizu.

Inugamike no Ichizoku 4K Digitally Restored Ultra HD Blu-ray [HDR Ver.] [4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Bonus Blu-ray] (English Subtitles)Japanese Moviea must for Japanese film collectorsWhere to begin.. Buy this! A good movie remastered in 4K coupled with an awesome special edition with a large book and a wealth of special features. This is now my favorite bluray/4K special edition. I bought this before I got my 4K tv so I've watched both discs and the 4K remaster here is phenomenal. This movie should also be of note to Visual Kei fans, as the character Sukekiyo is who Kyo from Dir en Grey named his other band after, as well as borrowing early project aesthetics from it. So this film is an important part of the Visual Kei film canon like Shinya Tsukamoto's Adventures of Denchu Kozo.

No Yuki Yama Yuki Umibe Yuki DVD SPECIAL EDITIONMovieentertaining effort by obayashiThis set includes 2 discs of the feature: one in B&W, the other in color. The B&W was meant to evoke an old-timey feel to the work; however, i feel the color version wins out due to how it exudes the feel of Harenchi Gakuen and other classic shonen comedies. How to explain this... Go Nagai and Hiroshi Shimizu had a child by Nobuhiko Obayashi. The work is aware of the tropes of the genres it plays with so it plays with gleeful abandon. I would not be surprised if Takashi Miike adored this movie.

Hiroshi Shimizu Works Vol.2 - Kodomo no Shiki (English Subtitles)Japanese Movieneorealist-esque slice of lifeI don't know what I was expecting going in, but these films turned out to be more engaging than the descriptions make them sound. I'm not a fan of Italian neorealism, so I was skeptical starting out since these have been compared to that film movement; however, there is a warmth to these that I find lacking in the Italian. Shimizu doesn't shy away from bad things happening, he just levies everything better with a rhythm that evokes the yin-yang of childhood happiness and sadness that is ultimately optimistic about life unlike the Italian counterparts. I would consider these to be a historical cornerstone of the modern Slice of Life genre as well as a high-point in it.

Pulse (Kairo) (English Subtitles)Japanese MovieKairoOne of the best horror films ever. It is so eerie and spooky. Kurosawa always makes masterpieces, so if you haven't seen Kairo (aka Pulse) you must buy it. His films are unlike any other person's movies. The soundtrack is excellent, and the picture quality on some Japanese DVDs like Kairo is similar to Blu-ray quality. Buy now or regret it for the rest of your life!

Vibrator (English Subtitles) Special EditionJapanese Movieone of my favourite films evereverything about this film is so insightful, unpretentious and scathingly, violently tender. Ohmori Nao & Terajima Shinobu give tremendous, career-best performances, and it is , so far, the highlight of Hiroki Ryuuichi's very interesting career

"Godzilla Minus One (Godzilla-1.0)" (Movie) Original SoundtrackOriginal Soundtrack (Music by Naoki Sato)MagnificentIt is very rare that a soundtrack album can stand alone as it's very own masterpiece, "Godzilla Minus One" is just one of those rarities. A thumping score that can tell the story of "Godzilla" without the need for visuals, a sonic treat writ large by the very talented Naoki Sato. Magnificent.

HiGH&LOW THE WORST X [Deluxe Edition] (English & Korean Subtitles)Japanese MovieTopHow can I say that this film is fabulous? I've watched it 11 times now. Friendship, brotherhood, honor, fights, humor. I also admire the work of makeup artists for injuries, as well as the photo and framing quality. As for the songs, it's every day in my playlist.

Godzilla Minus One Deluxe Edition 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray (4 Discs)Sci-Fi Live ActionGodzilla-1.0 Movie May0124"Godzilla" is an iconic movie monster, and the film itself is a true masterpiece. We enjoyed watching it on an IMAX screen on the first screening day in Melbourne, AU, and we were entirely transfixed in our seats. The movie is our favourite, and we were excited to hear that the 4K/Blu-ray disc was being released in Japan on May 1, 2024. I pre-ordered, and we received the disc on the same day in Australia; thanks to CD Japan for shipping quickly as part of their customer commitment. Although the disc did not have English subtitles, it didn't matter to us because we loved the movie. We watched it again without subtitles and fell in love with it all over again.THANKS AGAIN CD JAPAN

River, Nagarenaide yo (English Subtitles)Japanese MovieUeda best time travel writerThis Blu-ray while expensive is well worth it because it provides good English subtitles to go along with the incredible film on the disk. My only complaint is that the commentary seemed to play before the regular audio, which I'm not sure it that's normal but it shouldn't be the default.

"Godzilla Minus One (Godzilla-1.0)" (Movie) Original SoundtrackOriginal Soundtrack (Music by Naoki Sato)Godzilla Minus One CD Soundtrack!Absolutely great film! It deserves an "Academy Award" (or equivalent) for Best Picture of the Year! My purchase of this CD soundtrack to this stunning film, re-making of Godzilla's origin after 70 Years of film history, is fantastic. "Godzilla-1.0" is an exceptionally filmed and complete story. Beautiful cinematography, an inspiring story of people, and wonderful music and SFX. I've loved Godzilla since I first saw the 1954 film when I was four year old, almost 59 years ago! I am in awe... I feel priveledged to still be around to enjoy this emotional and creative story, in such a thrilling artistic rendition! Domo Arigatogozaimasu CDJapan!

"Godzilla Minus One (Godzilla-1.0)" (Movie) Original SoundtrackOriginal Soundtrack (Music by Naoki Sato)Beautiful, Surreal and ReflectiveNaoki Sato does a powerful and moving take on the King of the Monsters. Including a few traditional themes from Godzilla movie's past, Sato offers mostly surreal, atmospheric pieces that cause you to reflect on the horror or emotion taking place. - and this is reflected even in the track names. The Godzilla suites are excellent and pieces such as Hope, Last and Pray will have you thinking about the situations long after seeing this movie. In some ways, it is not easiest Godzilla soundtrack to listen to, but you will be emotionally moved. Recommended for the Godzilla fan or those who reflective or horrific, fantastical ambience.

Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! (Eizoken ni wa Te wo Dasuna!) Standard EditionJapanese MovieA Fun Movie RegardlessI went into this not knowing anything about the source material. Sure, I watched clips on YouTube of this particular movie, but never watched the anime or manga it based off. I have to admit, the acting is amazing, the story I have no idea what is going on, but I still liked the movie regardless. I don't need to know something to find it entertaining. I just know that I liked the lighting, the acting in terms of oral and non-verbal communications.
