Compilations rarely due justice to the career of any artist, but they do have their place. The Definitive Christopher Cross certainly is a great collection, covering a wide spectrum of his hits and more. Still, having all of Christopher's songs on their original albums is the real definitive collection. Aside from some of his signature songs like "Think of Laura", "Ride Like The Wind" and "Sailing", this collection includes non-chart toppers, which are worth a listen. "Loving Strangers" is one of these lesser-known treasures. It's a little reminiscent of Madonna's "Who's That Girl" both being co-written and co-produced by Patrick Leonard. A couple other tracks that stand out are "Every Turn Of The World", with its toe-tapping rhythm and rock guitar not to mention "Words Of Wisdom" with its strong melody and long instrumental section. Christopher Cross does more than just soft ballads, and has many great rock numbers. This collection is a superb collection of both, which I would recommend to anyone, especially those just being introduced to his repertoire.
