元AMORPHISのオリジナル・ベーシストのオーリ=ペッカ・ライネ(※1st～4thまで在籍)と、キーボード奏者のキャスパー・マーティンソン(※2ndのときに在籍)を筆頭に、現KREATORのサミ・ウリ=シルニヨ(g)や、MOONSORROWのマルコ・タルヴォネン(ds)など、フィンランドを代表するミュージシャンから成るメランコリック/プログレッシヴ・デス・メタル・バンド=BARREN EARTHが、世界最大規模のメタル・レーベルCentury Mediaと新たに契約し、日本デビュー作となった『THE DEVIL'S RESOLVE』(2012)以来となる通算3作目をリリース! 美しくも寂寥感のあるピアノやオルガンの音色に覆われた、メランコリックなプログレッシヴ・デス・メタル・サウンド。本編全8曲のうち、11分を超える曲が2曲、7分を超える曲が3曲と、プログレファンをも唸らせる長尺な曲が並ぶ。本作から、前任者以上に「歌える」シンガー、ヨン・アルダラ(デンマークの自治領であるフェロー諸島出身)が加入。ヴォーカル・メロディが飛躍的に充実した。
