Bubblegum Crisis 35th Box [2Blu-ray + 8Hi-Res CD (MQA x UHQCD)] [Limited Release]

I’ll get straight to the point. If you want 8 killer CDs to jam out all the OVA’s soundtracks without relying on streaming/internet connection in remastered form, buy this. If you want to watch the actual OVAs along with bonus content, here is a warning. Only the original Japanese audio is present and does not provide subs for that language, and no audio/subs for English or any other language. Even if it did come from Tokyo Japan it would’ve been neat to have multiple languages added into this version. As for the picture quality it’s hard for me to say if it’s on par or lesser than the AnimEigo blu-ray collection of the OVAs, which includes multiple languages, for I have yet to make time to compare the two. The boxset has two blu-rays that contains the 2000s DVD Collection bonuses, therefore it may have the same picture quality as well (don’t own that one just speculating), whereas the 1 disc standard AnimEigo version doesn’t have those bonus contents, unless you were one of the Kickstarter’s higher tier supporters. I guess it’s also worth pointing out what’s probably obvious, the booklet contains only Japanese wording and no translations. Most of the content in there has been provided on the actual wiki of BGC so I recommend checking that out. So, for the price that is certainly high for what you are getting in this package it may only appeal to those who are hardcore into Bubblegum Crisis and/or wanting to physically own the soundtracks in CD format (also available in Vinyl). The acrylic phone stand is serviceable but not a main selling reason for me to get this. Maybe if it was replaced with an Artbook would that be justification on buying such a boxset. Anyways, I was able to convert the CDs into digital files to take on the go in my phone and…it sounds sooo good! “Konya wa Hurricane!”

Excited and relieved, to have this original Bubblegum Crisis Anniversary Collection Hi-Def anime and soundtrack cd set of the original 1980's OVA series! Great art, animation and music from a culturally imaginative, classic story. I also finally did get the other two cd's from the remake Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 series (Soundtrack Volume 2 and BGC Collectors File 1999). Now if a company someday releases another set of Knight Saber figures, my BGC collection could be ultimate! Thanks to you again CDJapan!
