[リッスン・トゥ・アーマッド・ジャマル] ピアニスト、アーマッド・ジャマル (1930年7月2日生、2023年4月16日没)のアーゴ時代のレア盤をリイシュー。シカゴを拠点にトリオを中心に活動し、その独特のリズム感とタッチはマイルス・デイヴィスにも影響を与えたことで知られる。加えて、後年、バークリー音楽大学在学中だった無名の上原ひろみの才能にいち早く目を付け、テラークからデビューを実現させた。今回再発するのは早世した天才ベース奏者イスラエル・クロスビー在籍時の50年代中盤～60年代前半のトリオ編成を中心とするアルバム。10タイトル中4タイトルが日本初CD化。全タイトルが初SHM-CD化となる。日本独自企画。 ■レギュラー・トリオに、ジョー・ケネディ指揮の15人編成のストリング・セクションを従えた室内楽的アルバム。ハイセンスな弦楽とクールなピアノが溶け合った典雅なサウンド。 ＜パーソネル＞ アーマッド・ジャマル (p)、イスラエル・クロスビー (b)、ヴァーネル・フォーニア (ds)、ジョー・ケネディ (arr, cond) 15ストリングス 1959年2月22日～28日、ニューヨーク、ノーラズ・ペントハウス・スタジオにて録音
