Gary Burton, who is famous for discovering many promising new artists, has discovered a new guitarist, Julian Rage! He is now just 20 years old! At the age of 11, he performed with Gary Burton on his Grammy award-winning TV broadcast, and was already a hot topic from his youth. Soon after, Gary invited him to share the stage with him, and they performed on Gary's 2003 album "Generations" and 2005's "Next Generations". He has frequently performed at the San Francisco Jazz Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, and Newport Jazz Festival, and has contributed several of his own original compositions to the Gary Burton Generation Quintet. He established himself as a musician even before his full-fledged debut. Herbie Hancock once said, "Julian plays with heart and soul. When did he learn that at such a young age?" There are many voices in the industry, besides Gary Burton, that support Julian's music.

パット・メセニー(g)、エバーハルト・ウェーバー(b)、ラルフ・タウナー(g)、タイガー大越(tp)、小曽根真(p)・・・数々の有望新人を発掘してきたことでも有名な大御所、ゲイリー・バートンが新たに発掘したギタリスト "神童" ジュリアン・レイジ!! 現在、弱冠20歳!の彼は、5歳よりギターをはじめ、11歳の時には育ての親とも言うべきゲイリー・バートンがグラミーを受賞した際にテレビ放送での演奏に共に出演するなど、少年期より既に話題となっていた。その後間もなく、ゲイリーに誘われてステージを共にし、2003年のゲイリーのアルバム『GENERATIONS』、2005年の『NEXT GENERATIONS』に参加。頻繁にSan Francisco Jazz FestivalやMonterey Jazz Festival、そしてNewport Jazz Festivalでも演奏をし、ゲイリー・バートン・ジェネレーション・クインテットには自身のオリジナル曲を複数提供するなど、本格デビュー前ながらミュージシャンとしての地位を確立していった。かのハービー・ハンコックをして「ジュリアンは心と魂でプレイする。こんなに若いのに、いつそれを学んだのか」と言わしめるなど、ゲイリー・バートン以外にも業界内でジュリアンを支持する声は多い。
