Big Vicious

[Machine Translation] This is the debut album of Avishai Cohen Big Vicious, a project started in 2014 by Tel Aviv-born trumpeter Avishai Cohen, whose overwhelming performance attracted many jazz fans when he visited Japan for Tokyo Jazz in 2015. Avishai returned to his native Israel from the U.S. in 2014 and began this project. The motto of the album is "This Time is Different" ("This Time is Different"), the title of the recorded songs, genreless music reflecting the current times, with all the band members from Israel, a group of old friends playing new material in a new style. The composition sessions were held at the studio of Yuval Havkin, known as the most important beatmaker/rejoicer in the Israeli beat scene and the core member of the Battering Trio, a future soul band from Tel Aviv, and Havkin also participated in three compositions. Havkin also participated on three tracks. The album consists of Cohen's original compositions, co-written compositions by the members, a big hit by MASSIVE ATTACK, and a Beethoven piece, and is a strong ECM work that will appeal not only to jazz fans but also to all music fans.
