寺岡呼人の4年振りとなる待望のオリジナルソロアルバム。本アルバムのタイトルともなる楽曲「バトン」 (日本テレビ系「カミングアウトバラエティ!! 秘密のケンミンSHOW」エンディングテーマ)は、自身が主催するライヴイベント"Golden Circle Vol,18" (2013年11月9,10日＠日本武道館、2013年11月13,14日＠大阪城ホール)で披露され話題となった楽曲。作詞に桜井和寿 (Mr.Children)、ドラムに鈴木英哉 (Mr.Children)が参加。その他、ライヴイベント"Golden Circle Vol,18"でアンコールの最後に毎公演披露し、ファンへの感謝の想いを綴った「ご贔屓に」や、2014年5月から開催された全国ツアーのタイトルともなった楽曲「BLOOD, SWEAT&LOVE」など全11曲収録。初回限定盤のDVDには、ソロデビュー20周年を記念した赤坂BLITZ (2014年2月8日)でのライヴ映像、その他特典映像を収録予定。
