One of the most underrated bands in the Japanese pop scene, and one of my favourites. Their third full length album '3', along with 'Natural Beauty' is arguably their best work, I would recommend these 2 over their 'Best' album. Fukiko's passionate vocals are as strong as ever, this album is a wonderful palette of soothing tunes with a subtle blend of Chinese instrumentals in the arrangement, which is executed wonderfully, most noticeably in 'Purple Sky-album mix version'. (Credit most likely to Song Rui for the Chinese influences) The album begins with the ethereal 'Kokoro e' with some of the most emotional vocals Fukiko has delivered. Following that is the dreamy 'Future Express', which would remind fans of tracks from their previous mini-album 'RAINBOW'. To break the album up, we have a rock number 'Two Heaven Birds' to break things up, and more excellent tracks follows, including 'Cigarette Flower', written completely in English. If you're thinking of picking up any CORE OF SOUL releases, don't hesistate any longer! Who knows how long these will last now that they've broken up as a band.
