I went into this not knowing anything about the source material. Sure, I watched clips on YouTube of this particular movie, but never watched the anime or manga it based off. I have to admit, the acting is amazing, the story I have no idea what is going on, but I still liked the movie regardless. I don't need to know something to find it entertaining. I just know that I liked the lighting, the acting in terms of oral and non-verbal communications.

アニメ制作を志す女子高生3人組の青春を描き、2020年1月からは湯浅政明監督によるテレビアニメ版もNHKで放送された大童澄瞳の同名コミックを、人気アイドルグループ「乃木坂46」の齋藤飛鳥、山下美月、梅澤美波の共演で実写映画化。――湖に面した芝浜高校。人見知りだが監督としてすぐれた素質をもつ浅草みどり、カリスマ読者モデルでアニメーターの水崎ツバメ、金もうけが好きなプロデューサー気質の金森さやかは、「映像研究同好会」を結成し、自分たちが思い描く"最強の世界"を描くためアニメーション制作を開始する。「アニメは設定が命!」が信条の主人公・浅草みどりを齋藤飛鳥、俳優である両親に反対されながらもアニメーターを目指すお嬢様・水崎ツバメを山下美月、2人の才能をまとめ、管理し、金もうけをしようとするプロデューサータイプの金森さやかを梅澤美波が演じる。そのほか、小西桜子、福本莉子、桜田ひより、浜辺美波ら人気の若手女優も共演する。監督は「乃木坂46」とは映画「あさひなぐ」でもタッグを組んだ英勉。
