2005年6月にオリジナル・ベーシストであったカール・ミューラーを病気で失い、バンド活動を中断していた、アメリカン・ロック・バンド、ソウル・アサイラム。その彼らが久々のニュー・アルバム「The Silver Lining」を引っ提げて、いよいよ本格的にシーンに復帰! オリジナル・アルバムとしては、98年作「キャンディー・フロム・ア・ストレンジャー」以来、約8年ぶりとなる本作は、これまでにボストンやスティングらを手掛けたスティーヴ・ホッジ(Steve Hodg)をプロデューサーに迎えて制作。本作のベースは、故カール・ミューラーが闘病のあいだにかろうじてレコーディングを終えていたので、ほとんどの曲のベースは彼が弾いたもの。
