Sphere Sessions

[Machine Translation] The Merzbau Archive Series by Slowdown Records has begun its tenth installment! In this series, Merzbau will be releasing recordings from 2004 to 2005. Since Merzbau began using his own instruments and analog equipment in addition to his laptop for live performances in the latter half of 2005, this series can be seen as the culmination of his experimentation with laptop-only performance and production starting in 1999. Sphere Sessions" is a collection of outtakes and long mixes from the "Sphere" album released on Tzadik in 2005, and was created in response to a request from John Zorn of Tzadik to "release a piece with drums. The album is a valuable work that was produced by playing and sampling drums that were not used at the time.

スローダウン・レコーズによるメルツバウ・アーカイブ・シリーズは第10弾がスタート! 今回のシリーズでは2004年から2005年にかけての音源がリリースされる。メルツバウは2005年の後半頃からライブでラップトップに加えて自作楽器やアナログ機材を併用するようになるため、本シリーズの時期は1999年から試みられたラップトップのみでの演奏/制作の到達点と捉えられるだろう。本作『Sphere Sessions』は2005年にTzadikからリリースされたアルバム『Sphere』のアウトテイクとロング・ミックスを収めた一作。Tzadik主宰のJohn Zornから伝えられた"ドラムを使用した作品をリリースしたい"との要望に答え、当時は使用していなかったドラムを演奏、サンプリングして制作された貴重な作風となっている。
