前作からわずか10ヶ月。時を待たずしてファンに届けられたアルバム。自身の過去楽曲を厳選、編曲に大胆な改変を施し新たな楽曲として蘇らせたのが本盤。セルフカバーアルバムという点では、すでに2011年にリリースされている『月と専制君主』の続編といえる。本作は全編に渡って、フォーク、ブルース、ニューオリンズ、ジャズ、カリビアン、レゲなど多彩なビートが採用されている。ここでの佐野は、卓越したメロディ・メーカーであるだけでなく、言葉を際立たせる編曲家としても限りない創造力を発揮している。バッキングには前作セルフカバー・アルバムと同じセッション・メンバーが参加。古田たかし (dr)、井上富雄 (B)、Dr.kyOn (key)、長田進 (G)。アナログ・カッティングに、キャピタル・マスタリングのベテラン・エンジニア、Ron McMaster (ロン・マクマスター)が担当。
